Wrexham: many positives on ‘arrogant day’ despite failing

In December 2019, Wrexham arrived in their Nadir, under the national league and forced to apologize to their fans for the worst position of the league in their 155 -year presence, before the mid -week trip to Eastleigh.

On Saturday, they were back in the same part of the world – but what felt like a different world.

St Mary’s is only five miles on the road from Eastleigh but, while 56 Wrexham supporters made a long journey south six years ago, more than 3,000 were Southampton.

If at any time there was a wrexham rise field, it was this curtain for their first season in the second English football game for 43 years.

As soon as 2023, Southampton were four divisions higher than Wrexham.

Now, after the release of the saints from the Premier League last season and the three historical broadcasts, they are opponents of the championship.

This was the aromatic time for Wrexham fans, even in the failure, to go to the South Coast sun and create a whole afternoon racket at the end of Carnivalesque.

“It was a very arrogant time for everyone connected to the club today,” manager Phil Parkinson said.

“I took a while when the young men ran warmly and shown just because where we came out of playing on a stage like this today was very special. We had the best help.”
