Wayne Rooney says he still feels he is the right man to lead Plymouth Argyle despite another heavy away loss.
On Boxing Day they were beaten 4-0 by Coventry City it was the fifth time the bottom-of-the-table Pilgrims have conceded four or more goals in an away Championship match this season.
Argyle’s away form is the worst in the Premier League having picked up just two points from 12 games – scoring three goals and conceding 33.
The defeat was the fifth in the last six matches – 3-3 draw against Middlesbrough in their last game it was the only point Argyle had won in over a month.
They are now two points from safety at the bottom of the Championship ahead of an important match away to fellow leaders Oxford United on Sunday 29 December.
When asked if he was still the right man to lead Argyle Rooney replied: “I believe I am. I know how football works, I’m not stupid, you need to get results.
“The biggest frustration for me all season is that we look like two different teams at home and on the road.
“So psychologically is there an issue? It’s something we’re looking into.”
He added; “I’m sure the fans have questions, I’m sure a lot of people from the outside will, and I’ll try to answer them as much as I can.”
