The Sharks made NHL history with a late game collapse against the Avalanche it appeared in the beginning NBC Sports Bay Area
The Sharks made NHL history Thursday night, but not for the reasons San Jose fans would have hoped.
After a 4-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche at the SAP Center, the Sharks became the first team in NHL history to lose three consecutive home games in regulation while holding third-period leads in each contest.
A tough math note to swallow: #SJSharks be the first team to @NHL history of losing 3 consecutive games in regulation, all at home, after having a 3rd period lead in each game.

San Jose entered the third period against Colorado with a 2-1 lead after William Eklund’s second wrister.
Unfortunately, the Sharks’ lead faded after goals from Avalanche forward Mikko Rantanen and Joel Kiviranta secured San Jose’s place in the record books.
I The Sharks lost 4-3 to the Utah Hockey Club last weekend after taking a 3-2 lead, and another late collapse followed, falling 4-3 to the Winnipeg Jets.
While San Jose showed a lot of promise as a rookie sensation Macklin Celebrini bursts onto the sceneit’s clear the Sharks still have problems finishing games as the third season pattern continued in historic fashion on Thursday.
A change of scenery could help turn things around, and San Jose will have a chance to get back on top when the Sharks face the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday afternoon.
