Dylan Holloway has been one of those depth players for St. Louis. Louis Blues recently found that offensive production is hard to come by.
After a seven-game hitting streak that culminated in an overtime game win on Dec. 10 against the Vancouver Canucks, the well has run dry for Holloway without a point in six straight.
He snapped out of that and left that six game streak in the dust with his first NHL hat trick in a 4-0 win over the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena on Monday.
Holloway played 16:49 and hit his fourth game-winner of the season and did so by being the beneficiary of strong play from all three positions. The Blues (16-16-4) were connected throughout the game and used his shooting to help fuel a much-needed offense for a team that had scored one goal in four of its last five games and seven overall.
The Blues had many players who were not outstanding in this game, including Cam Fowler and Colton Parayko, Alexandre Texier, who was promoted to the top of the game.
But when a kid gets his first NHL hat trick, he deserves the highest honor of player of the game.
