Pundit’s final position: Nahyan Chowdhury won the BBC Show crown in Wembley

“The chosen designer has shown great courage to be able to give under pressure and has an exciting future in this role,” Scott said while announcing the winner.

Chowdhury failed with emotion when he was hugged and praised by Addison.

From the first challenge at Goodison Park in the first part – where Chowdhury was the only candidate to hit the wood work in the Crossbar competition – hearing the news at Wembley was the perfect time for him.

“Good game,” Addison said. “He comes in a week in Goodison and is hitting the cross way. It was planned.”

And the contract at BBC Sport was preserved, the first day of Chowdhury in his new role will be August 12.

“I’m glad, come in and go straight,” he said. “I wanted to get in there immediately and make an impact and prove I am a worthy winner.

“I had no idea that I would be in this position. If you asked me a year ago and said you would be doing the contents and being on the television show, I would say ‘no room’. I never thought about it because you don’t see people like me doing that kind of.

“I have done so, I have shown myself that I can do it and I will prove to everyone else that I am a worthy winner. Not the end, it is just the beginning.

“I’m the last pundit standing.”
