Novak Djokovic will play Brisbane International before the Australian Open

Novak Djokovic will play at the Brisbane International before he begins his bid to win his 25th Grand Slam at the Australian Open in Melbourne in January.

The 37-year-old, a 10-time winner in Melbourne, is tied with Australia’s Margaret Court with a record 24 Grand Slam singles titles.

The Serbian, ranked seventh in the world, failed to add to his Grand Slam tally in 2024 which is frustrating.

The tournament in Brisbane, which takes place from 29 December to 5 January, is one of the final warm-up events before the Australian Open starts on 12 January.

“I’m excited to start my Australian career at the Brisbane International and compete again at the Pat Rafter Arena,” said Djokovic.

“I can’t wait to have the incredible support of the Australian fans and make this a tournament to remember.”

Meanwhile, England’s Emma Raducanu will start her season at the Auckland Classic which runs from December 30 to January 5.

Raducanu is on the list of participants along with four-time major winner Naomi Osaka and home hope Lulu Sun, who reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals as a qualifier in July.
