Matt Rempe of the Rangers stopped eight games by striking out Miro Heiskanen of the Stars


The guards forward Matt Rempe received an eight-game suspension following his hit on a Dallas Stars defender Miro Heiskanen Friday night.

After meeting with NHL Player Safety in a hearing, the 22-year-old faced disciplinary action by the league and was suspended for the second time in his young career.

In his first New York performance since Nov. 25, Rempe rode/elbowed Heiskanen in the back in the third period and received a five-minute major for elbowing and a game misconduct. It was his fourth ejection in just 22 NHL games.

Both of Rempe’s suspensions were caused by elbowing after the 6-foot-9 forward hit a Devils defender. Jonas Siegenthaler in March 2023 which earned him a four game suspension.

In five games for the Blueshirts, Rempe has zero points and 24 penalty minutes while averaging six minutes on the ice. He was recalled to the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack on December 18 after the Rangers traded him. Kaapo Kako to the Seattle Kraken.
