Knicks return Landry Shamet, waive Matt Ryan

Them Knicks we had Landry Shamet has agreed to a deal that returns the veteran guard to New York after a two-month layoff, said his representative the SNY Ian Begley on Sunday.

In a fitting move, the Knicks pulled ahead Matt Ryan.

Shamet, 27, originally signed Sept. 14 with the Knicks but was waived Oct. 19 after dislocating his shoulder in an Oct. 15 preseason game against the Charlotte Hornets.

New York added Shamet to the Westchester Knicks, its G League affiliate, after selecting him on October 26 in the 2024 G League Draft.

In four preseason games with the Knicks, Shamet averaged 10.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists over 22.1 minutes.

Shamet spent the 2023-24 season with the Washington Wizards and averaged 7.1 points in 15.8 minutes.
