World number two Swiatek ribs came out of the Dubai tennis championship after a 6-3 6-3 shock of the quarter-finals by Mirra Andreeva who was 17 years old.

Russian teenagers are the youngest player to reach the last four tournaments.

He was 3-1 in the second set before staggering five consecutive matches to defeat Swiatek Poland, the winner of the Grand Slam five times, in one hour 36 minutes.

Andreeva made a tie against Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan or Sofia Kenin United States on Thursday.

“To be honest, I was completely nervous before the match and we played on Ringintiti last year (Swiatek won) and it was quite intense,” Andreeva said.

“So I just told myself that I played great and I just need to continue playing aggressively and shooting me.

“It’s also not easy with all fans (supporting Swiatek) but I think we even. I have many people who support me.”

Victory means Russia has now defeated the two top two players in the last 12 months, after defeating the world’s number one Aryna Sabalenka in the quarter -finals of France Open last year.
