Financial issues and uncertainty surrounding the takeover have left Everton struggling at the bottom end of the Premier League table in recent years and it’s a similar story this campaign.
The club is in 16th place and is just three points above the relegation zone.
Dyche’s contract expires at the end of the season and, when asked about his future, he said: “Winning games always puts you in a good position. Besides he (Watts) made it very clear, in person, they have nothing but help for me , staff and team But it is necessary to win games, that is a natural process.
“Coming out of chat today is more like a business tactic, it would be a departure from (the philosophy of) you guys are there for a reason.”
Watts also spoke about the importance of the women’s team and Roma’s women’s success under the Friedkin Group since taking over the Serie A team in 2020, winning the league title twice and the Coppa Italia.
Despite the club’s new owners coming in, Dyche suggested that spending in the January window on the men’s team will be done sparingly rather than extravagantly.
Last season, Everton were stripped of a total of eight points for breaching the league’s financial rules and Dyche has been forced to face severe spending restrictions since taking charge in January 2023.
Since the 2021-22 season, Everton are the only Premier League side with a positive net usage, while at the other end of the scale, Sunday’s opponents Chelsea have the worst net usage.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Dyche said: “The Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR) are not about money or no money, they are laws.
“Only so much can be done quickly, that they know. There are ongoing challenges to adjust things moving forward. January will be dominated by PSR from previous years.”
