Emma Raducanu: How the British tennis star’s injury comeback in 2024 happened

After his experience at the BJK Cup, an enthusiastic Raducanu immediately started his pre-season program in London with the new additions to his team.

Renowned trainer Yutaka Nakamura, who previously worked with Maria Sharapova and Osaka, has been registered to help make his body stronger.

“I needed a more tailored approach and someone dedicated to me,” said Raducanu, who traveled to Brisbane this week to continue preparations before the new season starts on December 30.

“My athleticism is a huge strength that I have never lived up to. I think I can become one of the best tennis athletes.”

Coach Nick Cavaday, his childhood mentor with whom he reunited in early 2024, will continue his role as part of a tight-knit team.

Special attention was paid to turning the serve into a “weapon”.

Lengthening his takeback, after switching to a shorter swing in the summer, has brought more rhythm, consistency and power.

“Yutuka adds another dimension to the way Nick and I work – being integrated and connected,” added Raducanu.

“We can already see the things we do in the gym transferring to the tennis court.

“We are on a journey of exploration.”
