Diogo Jota: Liverpool players return to the gym after the team’s death


Liverpool players have begun to return to the club for pre -season practice following the death of team mate Diogo Jota.

The first set of players was scheduled to return from their summer break last Friday but that was postponed after Jota, 28, and his 25 -year -old brother Andre Silva died in a car accident.

Jota was on his way back to Liverpool for early season and, as doctors had advised him against jumping because he had been undergoing a minor surgery, he was doing the trip to the car and ferry.

The intense competition for players and employees from the Anfield club paid their respect for his brother in a public awakening in their Portuguese of Portugal on Friday.

The funeral took place on Saturday in their city of Gondomar, with Reds Virgil captain Van Dijk and Scottish defender Andy Robertson carrying a flower tariff in honor of Jota and Andre Silva.

Manager Arne Slot was also part of Liverpool’s delegation and on his side is due to playing their first match of the first season against Preston North End in Deepdale on Sunday, July 13.
