Australian Open 2025: Andy Murray will coach Novak Djokovic in the tournament

Djokovic led the head-to-head 25-11 but Murray claimed an impressive victory over him to win the match US Open in 2012 And Wimbledon a year later.

However, he lost to Djokovic in the Melbourne tournament in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2016, and also lost in the final of the French Open in 2016.

Murray replaced Djokovic as world number one at the end of the 2016 season, racking up a 24-match winning streak by the end of the year, but a hip injury a year later impacted his career.

Murray announced in the summer that the Paris Olympics would be his last tournament, and he made it to the men’s doubles quarter-finals with Dan Evans before withdrawing.

“I will be joining Novak’s team in the off-season, helping him prepare for the Australian Open,” Murray said.

“I’m very excited for it and look forward to spending time with Novak to make a difference, helping him achieve his goals.”

Djokovic made changes to his team this year, including parting ways with his long-time coach Goran Ivanisevic.

An Olympic medal is the only title he will win in 2024 and he ended his season early after suffering an unspecified injury.

This is the first season since 2005 in which he has not won an ATP tournament, and the fourth season since 2008 in which he has not won any of his four Grand Slam titles.

“I’m looking forward to starting the season with Andy and having him by my side in Melbourne, where we shared many incredible moments throughout our careers,” added Djokovic.
