Sonay Kartal Britain was eliminated in the first half of Abu Dhabi Open after losing in three sets to American Katie Volynets.
Kartal, 23, took the opening set of the world number 68 Volrynets but fell to losses 3-6 6-4 6-4.
The 91st British woman entered the top 100 of the world for the first time at the end of last season.
He played for the first time since making a grand slam debut abroad in the Australian Open last month, out in the first round.
Kartal recovered from losing in the opening game to reverse the first set, which he installed by taking the third match in a row.
Volynets, also 23, ran to the 5-0 advantage in the second set when he brought the match to the deciding.
