Lancashire Police are investigating allegations of racial abuse aimed at a Watford player during yesterday’s Championship match at Turf Moor.
Clarets, who won 2-1issued a club statement, out appeal to witnesses and said that “they will make sure that those involved are held accountable.”
The statement also said: “Burnley Football Club is deeply concerned by allegations of abuse against a Watford player during the first half of today’s match at Turf Moor.
“Racism has absolutely no place in football or society and we condemn such behavior in the strongest possible terms.”
Watford appealed for anyone with information to come forward and he added, out: “Watford FC will offer its full support to the player against whom allegations of abuse were made.”
