Victoria Mboko: Teenagers to face Naomi Osaka in the Canadian open final after an amazing comeback


Teenager Victoria Mboko will face Naomi Osaka in the Canadian final after opposing the opportunity to disappoint former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.

The 18-year-old Canadian, ranked 85th in the world, lost the first set and saved the match points in the second before continuing to seal the 1-6 7-5 7-5 victory (7-4) in Montreal.

Mboko, the Wildcard entry for the tournament, will face the world’s number one former Osaka on Thursday in its first 1000 WTA final.

“I have everyone who supports me and encourages me,” said Mboko.

“Without you, I guess I won’t be able to do this.”

Canada, who will move to the top 50 in the ranking when they are updated next week, have defeated Coco Gauff and Sofia Kenin in running it extraordinary to the final.

He started the 333th rank year in the world but opened the season with a winning streak 22 amazing matches.

Osaka prevents his famous victory, following the 6-2 7-6 (9-7) Japanese victory against Denmark’s 16th seed Clara Tauson.
